Wrapped up in Gratitude

While we could debate the historical origins of Thanksgiving (let’s not!), what this day means to me is time with loved ones and a focus on all I am thankful for…which is A LOT.

Sometimes, I look back on my life and wonder…how the heck did I get so lucky?  I was born into a family with two incredible parents…who loved me, and each other.  I was blessed with good health, a working brain, and I’ve been told I’m not too hard on the eyes, though I guess that last one is rather subjective.  I had a happy childhood.  I enjoyed high school and thrived there, and again, later in college.  I came across and loved some good men on my journey.  In my twenties, I met and married an amazing man who I have built a pretty nice life with (I love you, Daddy!).  I have a handful of girlfriends who have been there with me through it all.  And…while I am skipping over the darker parts of my story, there is one life lesson that stands out to me here… we learn not to take the good parts of life- those beautiful, sweet moments- for granted by enduring the harder parts.

Daddy and I are entering one of those difficult chapters.  He is experiencing some health issues.  When I wrote about this a few weeks ago, we didn’t know quite the extent of the problem…and it is more serious than we hoped.  But we have every reason to be hopeful and so today, I am going to focus on what I am thankful for on this random day of thanks in the month of November.

I am grateful….

  • I am grateful to know unconditional love.  In one of my favorite movies of all time (The Moulin Rouge- yes, I am a musical nerd 😊), John Leguizamo (who plays Toulouse in the movie), says “The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is to love and be loved in return.”  I am grateful to be continuously learning this.
  • I am grateful to be sharing my life with Daddy.  He is always ready to follow me on whatever crazy adventure I come up with, and he is my rock when life gets hard.  He has been there for me through thick and thin.  I will be his rock now.
  • I am grateful for my family.  We’ve been through hell and back the last few years…but the love remains.  Everything changed when my mom died, but we are emerging from the ashes, forever scarred, but intact.  I have so much love and respect for the people who share my blood.
  • I am grateful for my fur babies.  They bring me endless joy with their silly antics and unique personalities.  As I write this, they are both pressed up against my leg.  I am grateful to feel their warmth and devotion as they lay there sleeping.
  • I am grateful to my husband’s doctors.  I have faith in their abilities, and I know we are in good hands.
  • I am grateful for the D/s Dynamic that I share with Sir.  I will be forever thankful for the serendipitous way our lives have merged.  When one door closes, another one opens.  As a submissive girl, I couldn’t ask for a wiser, kinder, more consistent Disciplinarian.  Thank you for helping me to make my life better, Sir.
  • I am grateful for Daddy’s female friend.  She makes him feel good, and she lightens his heart.  She helps him to feel heard.  I am thankful for her presence in his life.
  • I am grateful for my readers.  Thank you, my kinky friends.  Thank you for following me on this journey.  Some of you have been with me for years and continue to offer encouragement.  You help me to feel heard and less alone in the crazy journey of life.  I hope that I can do the same for you.

Well, honestly… I could go on and on, but I think I’ve been sappy enough for one day.  I don’t deserve any of these beautiful things, but I am incredibly grateful for them.  For those of you who celebrate this holiday, I wish you a beautiful day with your family and friends.  For those of you not celebrating Thanksgiving, I hope it is just a damn good day anyways…and that your heart is full of love and gratitude for the beautiful things in your world.

With love,

nora

PS. And here is your obligatory spanking pic!!! Toasted buns to go with dinner 😉

Happy Spanksgiving!!! XOXO

  1. Oh my goodness, that is a serious amount to be thankful for. We don’t celebrate thanksgiving over here in the UK but I’m thankful I have had the good fortune to get to know you on here in our naughty world.
I sincerely hope that Daddy’s health problems are sorted out as quickly as humanly possible and that his recovery is swift. You know where I am if you need a shoulder my naughtiest friend, I’m always here for you. 💖💖💖💎

  3. I love your post today. I could’ve written (most) this post myself! I found myself thinking, “yeah, me too!”. I pray Daddy’s doctors get things sorted out and all will pass. Hugs!

  4. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours my fellow kinkyplinarian. I know, I made up a word. This past year for me has been a challenging one medically for me for the first time in my life. That being said, I couldn’t have come out on the other side so spectacularly without my wife.

So what ever it is your husband is going through, together, I believe he will shine in the end ( play on words there a little bit) and I hope in time he is not the only one. Stay strong. He will need that. And if you or he needs to talk to someone who’s been there, I am here.

  7. Belated Happy Thanksgiving. I am truly grateful and fortunate to love the woman I married, now for over 50 years, and to have that love reciprocated completely. We have adorable children, who chose great partners, and have fantastic grandchildren. A few times a week we say how did we ever get so lucky.
Sorry to read about your Daddy illness, but hope that it can be solved.

    1. Thank you, red! I LOVED reading this message and hearing about your long-time, enduring love with your wife. Daddy and I have been together almost 20 years, but are certainly shooting for 50. I am really happy to hear that the two of you are so happy. Thank you for your supportive and kind words. Positive vibes right back at you!!! XOXO

  8. It’s heartening that you’re able to put it all in perspective and come out the other side happy and thankful. Life isn’t always about a steady stream of good times. Sometimes it’s the challenges that build us better. Oh, thanks for the spanking visual too!
