Happy Blog-o-versary to me!

Hello all,

WordPress sent me a friendly little alert this morning to remind me that I have been operating my blog for one year as of today!  I’m not sure why, but that makes me feel a little warm and fuzzy inside.  I decided to brainstorm on that a bit and I came up with a list of all the great things that have happened for me as a result of my blogging journey.

Benefits of blogging:

1. The incredible interactions: I have “met” so many amazing people here on WordPress. People who have shared in my journey, offered support & guidance, applauded my efforts, shared their stories…it’s been amazing!  And, a few of you have become friends…and I am truly grateful for that.
2. The no-filter outlet: To steal a phrase from a friend, it is pretty “amaze-balls” that I can hop on WordPress and write about pretty much anything, without worrying about judgement. Where else can you talk masturbation, non-consensual spanking, sex toys, and downright dirty sexual fantasies?  Where else can I pour my heart out about wanting to be dominated in degrading ways or disciplined by my husband?  I don’t have to worry about being politically correct or being some “normalized” version of myself.  I can just be me…no filter.  That is pretty damn special!
3. The platform- This is a space where many of us have come together to bounce ideas off one another, ask questions, share our stories, poetry, photos, and music. It is a unique platform in that it offers the exposure of one’s work to others & theirs to you, anonymity (should you desire it), artistic license in the designing of one’s page, and the statistics feature which allows us to see how many people view our stuff & from where in the world they reside. Pretty cool if you ask me!

Feeling a bit nostalgic this morning, I decided to review my own statistics.  I almost can’t believe that I have written 173 posts in this year’s span and that my blog has been viewed over 100,000 times by people from all over the world!  Most of my visitors come from the US and the UK, but I think it’s pretty cool to have followers from places like Singapore, the Czech Republic, and Egypt as well.

Looking at the “Referrer’s” statistics was pretty fun too.  While a big percentage of my viewers have been referred from the WordPress Reader, I also get a lot of hits from the Google, Bing, and Yahoo search engines.  Also, thank you to bottomsmarts.blogspot.com, ronniesoul.blogspot.com, and jamestephenson.blogspot.com for sending viewers my way.  And finally, to my top three fellow blogger referrers here on WordPress…ddjennifer, submissy, and collaredmichael…many of my viewers have found their way to my blog via your blogs…so a big thank you to you!

It’s been a wild ride my friends…here is to another year in blog-o-sphere!  Thank you for being you and for taking the time to visit my blog.
